is very in the northern part of theUS, and i found that there are very very few asian people living there.. like only less than 1 % of the population.. so im scared honestly.. but the gaidai students who studied in this university said it was a great experience,, it was very hard of course.. for the second year, im moving to singapore!! im so excited,, cuz singapore is one of the countries that i have long wanted to live in.. thorough this program, im plannig to major in asian studies for the first year to understand the basic knowledge on asian cultures and societies,, and for the second year, im plannig to major in sociology, basically on asian countires. i guess this will be the most challenging experience for me in my life!!<div type='text'>TV commericals and consumerism

i was watching a TV the other day, and i found 2 commercials, which are very curious and make me think about the effect of consumerism. both of them are commercial from the US. one of them is a commercial for an exercise machine for house use to help people go on a diet. the other one is for a small table and a chair, which have rollers on the bottom so that people dont have to move around very much. i found them very intersting and felt like i want both of them the moment i watched the both of the commercials. yet, a few moments later, i found them really weird because those commercial have a great contradiction. while the small exercise machine promote people to go on a diet, the tables and chairs with rollers help people move much less than usual. therefore, i thought people are probably affected by the spread of consumerism so deeply that they rarely realize what is really needed for their lives. we need to be very careful when we buy something, since Tv commercials and other advertisements dont always make sense, and have big contradictions.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img type='text'>men writers and women writers

there are more men writers than women writers, and actually i guess i have read more books written by men wirters than women. the reasons for this is because probably, men has been more accepted by society as writers since the long time ago. also, men has been better educated and socialized especially in the past, it is believed that men have better knowledges and abilities to wirte. therefore, i think there has been a generalized idea in people's mind unconsciously that writing is a job for men.<div type='text'>mao should go for the winter olympics!

the winter olympics is coming soon! recently, i often watch figure skating competitions on TV, but i always feel unfair that Mao Asada, who is the best figure skater cannot go for the winter olympics only because she is still not old enough to participate in the games! but apparantely, she is a better skater than any other skaters, and her skating skills are far developped than any others. some american and british sports jounarists claims that japanese skating associations shuold have asked the olympic associations to change the rules so she can participate in the games. they claims that if it had happened in their countries, they must have asked for it for sure, even though it is unsure if it will accepted or not. i agree with them cuz she is skilled enough and it is not the real meaning of olympics without the best athlete in it. i feel really sorry for this, and i hope she will do her best for the next games, 4 yrs later.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' type='text'>cloning should be allowed??

last week i and michika worked together to research about cloninig. we were in a negative side and we had a hard time in finding negative points on cloning. i think cloning of foods will be useful in the future cuz there is a serious issue on hunger and poverty. but if we adopt this technology to human being and animals, it will be absolutely immoral to clone a new human only to help the normal human, and let the cloned human die after he saved the natural human or by giving his organ. yet, if it will be possible in the future to clone only a organ needed to save the normal person, it is so successful and should be introduced into a medical area. but if it really happens, mayb there will be an increasing number of people who will live unnaturally longer, and it can cause a global aging. therefore, i think cloning shuold be allowed to the certain points, but it will radically change this world..<div type='text'>immigrants problems

it was very shocking to me that the murder who killed an elementary school girl in hiroshima last week was a foreigner from peru. i dont mean i would not have been shocked if he was japanese but this murder case made me concerned more about the immigrants problem. personaly, i disagree to accept the greater number of immigrants. the main reason i have been concerned was that there are already too much westernization in japan and it have been destroying the japanese culture and identity, which is actually one of the asian countries. but since this murder case, if we accept more immigrants, i also began to think the number of foreigners who illegaly come and live in japan will increase and these people could commit crimes in japan because they are in fact, illegal people. i dont mean that these people should live in there own country and that i dont care if they commit crimes there, but i dont want them to come and live in japan at least honestly because japan used to be a country which could be proud of its safety!<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' type='text'>riots in france

it is so sad that there has been attacks that has spread in France from the biggining of this month. this has been a more and more serious issue since this attack has caused a number of damage on citizens, like burning cars and schools. yet, the main cause of this attack is more serious, because it is based on the immigrants problem. in fact, the people who has been attacking in the city are mostly immigrants from africa. but they have good reasons for attacking, because they have lower standards of living than local people and are still discrimitated in france. at school, islamis students are forbidden to wear their skirves, though it is symbol of islam. also, while the rate of unemployment of local people are only 9.4%, the rate of unemployment of immigrants are as high as 21%. also, income immigrants recieve are 45% less than local people, and there still exists a belief that immigrants are anti social people. therefore, the main reason for this attack is basically on discrimination on immigrants, and it is such a sad fact that there still exists discrimination everywhere in this world.<div type='text'>feminism

aya and i just finished our presentation last week, which was about feminism, basically on feminism on workplace. it was so hard for us to find statistics published by japanese companies indicating the percentages of working women, which is still much fewer than men in fact. it is believed that feminism activities have expanded womens opportunities at workplace, but it is still not always true. lots of companies still prefer to hire men, since women are expected to leave workplace somday, when they marry and have babies. it is pretty unfair cuz more and more women begin to have same abilities to work and well educated as men!! aya and i concluded that this is the reality and it is not an equal society at all..<div type='text'>an interview test!

i've just finished an intereveiw test for studying abroad!!mm,, it was a much more realxing interview than i imagined.. the interviewers were not really like "terrifying teachers" at all!! they were all cheerful and made me fell relaxed during the intereviw. ingerveiwers asked me why i wanted to get this opportunity to study abroad and what i would like to study. it was easy for me to answer their questions cuz i had thought i would be asked this question for sure.. so i prepared some answeres for this .. but the interviewers asked me a question that i never imagined i would be asked. one of them asked what i guess the elements of poplularity of the japanese animations in the world. i had never thought of this kind of topic.. but i picked up hayao miyazaki, one of the most famous japanese movie director, cuz he shows and protects traditional japanese buildings and charcters in each films that any othger films in other coutries dont have. mayb that's why many people around the world have been attracted to his films. anyways, i feel more free after this ineterview test.. mayb i have to prepare for the next japanese interview coming soon.. it will be tougher i guess.. hope i can make it ...<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' trasnferred from Kandai to Hawai University cuz she didnt find herself enjoying her school life at Kandai n to her, Kandai was not a good university she had expected at all. so she left Kandai when she was sophomore n since then, she had a part time job for 3 yrs, seeking for what she wants to do now. and finally today, she started a new life as a student in a totally new environemt.<br />actually, i didnt feel her choice to go abroad n start a new school life is a good idea.. cuz she is already 25 yrs old!! mayb it would be harder for her to find a job at the age of 27, when she comes back, and she has a fiance, who she left in japan for 2 yrs to wait for her.. but now.. i guess it is her life and only she can make a decision.. i have no right to say anything to oppose type='text'>heros or murders?

i studied japanese history in high school and had a hard time in memorizing them. but, should i beleive that everything written in the book is always true?? during the world war two, lots of japanese soldiers died, fighting for japan. they are now thougth to be heros in japan and japanese prime minister still go and worship for them to yasukuni shrine, where the soldiers were buried. they are of course heros, but on the other hand, a number of chinese and korean people were killed by them...it is no wonder asian people get to protest japanese government and protest the prime minister to stop going to yasukini shrine, where <em>murders</em> were buried. then, the question is,,,should i believe the japanese soldiers are heros who fought for japan? now i live here in peaceful country, where in the past japanese soldiers fought and protected. but i cant igonore that lots of asian ppl were killed at the type='text'>20th birthday! the right to vote!

yesterday was my 20th birthday and im finally free to do anything i want!! but now i realized i have to be responsibe for everything i do... i guess the most important responsibility as an adult is to go and vote in elections. it is sad and a shame fact that only 30-40% of young japense in their 20s and 30s go to vote each election. that means, more than 50% of japanese people waste their chances to vote for their future and each right to vote each person has among the 50% is ruined. voting is a such a big chance and aslo a duty we all get when we turn to be 20 and it has a great power to determine out future... so, i will go and vote for my future if there is any election near the future in japan.<div type='text'>do u want to join ur own funeral??

we can never know what our own funerals will be like... i sometimes wonder what my funeral will be like or who will attend it.. and sometimes i wonder if i can organize my funeral myself.. then, for those pople, we can choose to organize our own funerals before we die! when we have an uncurable ill such as cancer and have no chance to get well anymore, but still look fine and active enough, it is another choice for us to join our own funerals and have a good time with our family, close friends n old friends. however, there are a few rules for this funeral for the people attending it. 1st is that we must not cheer up the patient, saying "take care of urself." or "i hope u will get well soon." 2nd is that we must not recommend the patient to try a new treatment, saying like "this cure will work well! u should try this..!" the reasons for these rules are simple, because the patients already accepted the fact that he will terminate his life soon, being ready to die... it's not easy for us to accept our end of life and have fun on our own funerals in this situation, but i also think it's a pity that i cannot join my own funeral and leaving my family and friends feel sad abt my death. then,, do u want to join ur own funeral???<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' holiday and still daydreaming... i know it's time for me to go back to my busy school works.. wake me up plzz ><<br />today,, let me write alittle about the education system in japanese high school, because recently i look back to my high school classes since Darren often asks us about it.. well, it's obviously different from that of western countries cuz it's not too exaggerating to say japanese high school students bear the big burdens of entrance exams and our classes are only focused on it.. we should listen to teachers and memorize the whole contents of the text books.. we rarely have to think, discuss or analyze the topic in the class.. i think it is a big problem once we get out of japan and get into a university in western countries.. should the education system in japanese high school be changed?? i think this is a big issue for globalizing world.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' type='text'>3 months passed since that accident

it's still clear to me that one mornigng, i wake up, turned TV on and saw a schocking accident.. it was 25th in april's morning that JR accident killed over 100 people. it passes almost 3 months since the accident happened. this railway was finally recovered last month and many people are now back to this railway. however, serious problems still remain on people who were on that train on that morning. in fact, 46% of them have not taken any train since that accident. "it's still too scary." "JR still might have a problem on security." "i feel dizzy when i see train or railroads." these are people's voice who were on that accident train. when will these people be able to back to train and feel comfortable on trains? JR still remains a serious issue.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' type='text'>final essay is coming~

i finally decided which topic i would choose for my final global issue essay. i chose a topic from the chaper on food, because food has been the most vital thing to all people and it will definatelly continue to be the most important thing in the future. we will probably able to survive without energy or technology, but without food, we will apparantely die! from this chapter, i will focus on how climates, arable land, energy costs and alternative agriculture will affect future food supplies. we did a small presentation on this topic in class, and i found them important and quite interesting since all of these factors could bring both positive and negative features in the future. i hope i will get a good mark this time,,,,<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/12107606-112131527226907121?l=satokoorange.blogspot.com' alt='' T shirts! it was so fun but i got so tired with the crowd.. after shopping, we went for a dinner at kushiya, where we can eat kushikatu as many as we want!!! aaahhh~~ we were so exicted and just kept eating n eating.. without talking!! what happened to us then.. we were so full and almost couldnt move or walk!! we finally left some kushikatsu n some other foods cuz we were too full to finish all of the foods.. and the next day i was chatting with erica and we were talking about 'hunger'... then we both felt very sorry and guilty about the last night .. there are many people who cannot have enough foods, but we, on the other hand, eat too mush and feel like throwing up and finally leave some foods .. also, there are many people who have only 1 cloth to wear, but we rushed to umeda to buy extra new cute clothes.. what can we do with this matter..??<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' and i was getting feel sick during this movie.. but this movie makes me think how human being will end and disappear from this earth.. i believe, im of course not sure when it will be, that there will be a time all human being will disappear from this earth. i was also convinced of this on scott's class, in which we thought about "Doom in the future".. i think the most possible idea was "cosmic collision". this could definately destroy everythign on this earth and its hard to avoid. but personally i felt like if cosmic collision were to hit the earth and all the people in the world were to disappear, it is quite natural and it's not anyone's faults! and then, i am thinking like what kinds of creatures will be living on this earth?? im so curious ~~<div type='text'>murdering family..

it was very shocking to me that last week, two teenage boys killed their family. they are both still 15 yrs old and one of them killed his older brother and the other killed his parents. i was so shocked and had no idea why they could kill their family, which have been closest to them... i think these days, the relationship between parents and their childrens are changing in some cases. as parents begin to work outside of home, family are spending less time together. as they spend less time together, they less talk with each other. as they less talk with each other, they less understand each other. then, what i think happens there is that children finally can not express their feelings to their family and get separated from them. it is not sure if this changing has brought about these teenagers murdering their parents, but at least it is clear that children will not kill their parents if they understand each other.. what do u think leads teenagers to kill their parents..?<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' type='text'>does dicrimination still exist?

do u think discrimination against asian people still exists in japan? unfortunately, i can say it does still exist in japan. i dont want to beleive this, but the reality chinese people face in japan is not easy.... the other day, i talked to one of my chinese friends who is studying in japan. he is a medical student... so smart and hardworking! but he said he wanted to work in china, not in japan. i asked him why, imaging like he just wants to go home in china.. but seriously, he explained that one of his friends from china working as a doctor in japan, sometimes has difficulties. for example, when he goes and sees around his patients for checkups, some of them ask for a japanese doctor instead of him, cuz they dont believe chinese doctors or they dont want to be checked by chinese doctors. of course, he is as great as other japanese doctors, and they admit him as a great doctor. however, some of the japanese people, who tells a person only where he is from give him an uncomfortable stiuation. i think this can be a great evidence that discrimination still exists in japan, and cannot be ignored...<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/12107606-111799346564832735?l=satokoorange.blogspot.com' alt='' type='text'>what is justice..??

i was watching one tv program called 'ainori' tonight. in this show, some youngs are traveling around the world, seeking for 'love'. i like this show not only cuz i can see how people fall in love with someone through their jouney, but also i can learn what the world is really like from this. tonight, they were in a country called 'oman', which is unfamiliar to me, or these travelers either. before they arrived in this country, they had only a negative idea toward this coutry cuz it is one of the middle east countries that is bringing about lots of serious issues around the world. actually, majorities of this counrty are islamist and their basic idea of islams are 'peace' and 'justice'. then, everyone was wondering ' then, how can islam people become terrorists and attack people? isnt it against their rule?' in fact, though only minor islamic people are acting terrolism but they are all supposed to follow their basic idea, which is 'justice'. in this idea, they can never overlook people doing something wrong and it sometimes leads them to act too radically. they cannot stop until it turned to be right. then.. what is real justice for them? can they really kill people for justice...? this must be a key to the world's future...<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' type='text'>where are the young..??

hi everyone~ today let me talk abt what i found on poplulation growth, especially on aging poplulation cuz i have really realised abt this issue. since we started to learn abt the relationship between population growth and the aging society, it is really clear that there are much more old ppl around us than teenagers or twenty's! i have been watching ppl on the train carefully lately, and one day, among the ppl sitting in the seat in front of me, only 2 out of 8 looked like they r around 20's. next day, none of them sitting in front looked young.. i mean.. they all looked around over 50's!!! old!!! mayb it depends on the time i take a train, but i think u will soon realise this too.. even while u r walking in the street, u will probably realise this... however, my point is, i cannot tell if it is good or not..cuz i am happy that we can live longer than before cuz of the development of medicine or medical skills.. thanx to this, my grandparents r still all fine and active!! but as i get to face with this facts of aging society, it might not always good that ppl live so long .. as we get more developped medical skills, we will be able to live longer but it will creat the aging society, while with less developed medical skills, ppl die when they r so young and too many kids increase.. it's so ironical isnt it..<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/12107606-111590761734451829?l=satokoorange.blogspot.com' alt='' type='text'>when will chinese ppl realise it..??

recently.. what i have always seen on TV is maybe the topic i guess everyone have to be concerned about most.. nothing is more serious than the recent relationship between china and japan at the moment for both countries. of course, i understand why chinese people are still angry with japanese government cuz even though japan had accepted the facts and appologized for this in the time of murayama prime minister, japanese text books just skipped this serious facts just like we are actually not accepting or are still hiding this facts for younger generations. it's no wonder this can be a trigger for chinese to take an action against japan. however, the way chinese people are choosing to protest again japan here, which is to march toward japanese office or braking into any japanese shop, is not a right way at all. it is just stupid. personally, i dont think all of them are marching to protest against japan with their enough knowledges of the history of both countries. i mean.. i think some of them are doing that just because it's cool or even fun. i can say it because i saw this on tv that, one chinese, who is on neither sides, said there were some people laughing during this marching. mmm.... anyways, i think this marchign is never a good way to solve this problem.. when will chinese realise it...?<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/12107606-111461698322509273?l=satokoorange.blogspot.com' alt='' type='text'>what if i was in the second poorest class in the world..

hi everyone~ i am working at a factory making goods and services used by the rich, and living on less than 2 u.s. dollars a day. . . . well, it's obviously not true, but i was one of those in scott's class. i was so surprised to know that there r more ppl in the poorer classes than those in richer classes. i was in the second poorest class but it represents abt 25% of the world's populatin. only 20% of the rest r in the rich classes, but to me living in japan, it is quite natural that ppl have homes and cars etc... but as i was one of the poor, i was jealous of the rich when i found they can afford those luxuary stuffs... and i felt like y not they give us more money instead of spending on their traveling.. but, then, i just wondred one thing.. we know that there r richer ppl in this world cuz we learn it at school, or just found out it on tv etc.. so many access to know much about the world for us. but what about those in poor classes? they dun hav any accesses to know the world around them, or they even never know there r rich countiries like japan.. so, i think actually, those poor ppl r not jealous of the rich or they never demand us to give them more money.... then, i felt so bad and ashamed myself....:'(<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' type='text'>is japan really a developed county..?

hi guys~~ how r u doing this weekend?? <br />last week in class, we looked at a world map and discuss which counties r developed or still developping. and i found that japan was categorised as one of the developed countries. i guess so of course. BUT, i just wondered if it is really true when i found some asian countires were categolizes as developped countries.... i mean, is it really true japan is more developed than some of asian countries? i dont think it is always true. i mean.. japan is less developed in education area. i have a friend in thailand and she is 2 years younger than me. but she speaks an excellent english and knows more advanced english than me. i asked her if she studied overseas but she said she didn. and she said most of ppl in thailand speak english like her. and i know it is true cuz two americans sitting next to me on the flight from bngkok to kix said they felt more comfortable in bkk than in japan cuz they speak more english. and i have traveled a couple of asian countries, but when i used some transportations, they had almost same levels of transportaions as japanese ones or even better.. therefore.. do u still believe japan is really more developed than asian countires...?<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/12107606-111365116645795676?l=satokoorange.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

how scary tsunami is...

hi, today, let me talk about tsunami that hit sumatra last month. actually i was in phulet w/ my thai friend that night on 28th last month. we were on the beach and playing w/ people there. we didnt feel it at all. but when we went back to our hotel room, the hotel staff gave us a call and told us that there was a huge earthquake, and tsunami might hit aroud phuket in 2 hours. but even though they told us that tsunami will not possibly hit pohuket according to the radio or news and we didnt have to leave the hotels, we were so scared that we rushed for my friend's friend's house in higher area in phuket. but what i was mots surprised there was that hotel staffs were not worried or confused at all!! in fact, now i know that the earthquake on 28th last month was actually not that huge or intensive lie the last one. but when i was there, it reminded me of the last one hit small islands and many people died, i was so scared and felt like i could live only 2 hours more. i called my dad in japan and told him like this might be the last phone call from me... now i can laugh about this, but all the foreign guests there were so panicked like me. so, what i learnt there was, first, whatever happens, we need to clam down, and dont get panicked badly. the hotel staffs were all staying calm. they must know how scary tsunami is, but they were so smart in that they watched the news and just trusted and followed it saying 'this time is safe!' now i can imagine that hotel stuffs were thinking like how stupid these foreign guests were and laughing... -_-'<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/12107606-111339882400911100?l=satokoorange.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

what are your goals for IES this semester?

i think my goals for IES this semester is to be getting prepared for studying abroad. last year, it was so tough class for me but when i look back what i have learnt last year, it really helped me in many ways like how to write an essay etc.. so i'd like to learn more than last year and make it help me in the future. personaly i am not good at reading a very big thick book and it just made me feel sick or dizzy btu i am interested in global issues and it made me so curious. and i think global issues are what we have to think about the most seriously and when i imagine what it will b like to discass this with my class mates i think i t is so exciting! so, i think i should b rwading more news papers and watching news, and i need to know more about what is going on in this world. and i would b like to b able to have my own opinion even about serious and hard global issues.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/12107606-111326849340493789?l=satokoorange.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

my first blog

hello, this is my first blog!<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/12107606-111326664336573745?l=satokoorange.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>
